Home Learning

Please see below our home learning puzzle for this term!

5BM STEM Day

To kick start our Spring Term's Badsley offer, 5BM are accessing a very exciting STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) day in conjunction with the Royal Air Force. We have learned about some of the STEM careers available according to our interests and then we learned about how planes are designed. We got to apply our science learning from last term all about forces. We are designing and making our own gliders. We worked in teams to develop our team work, organisation skills, responsibility, respect and empathy skills. We can't wait to test our planes!

5BM are PROUD learners

In 5BM, we have a hall of fame where we celebrate our Badsley Values. Check out some of our achievements!

Year 5’s Amazing Norse Adventure to The Jorvik Viking Centre (York)

What an amazing way to conclude our learning for our Viking Topic. Children (and adults) had so much fun and were able to share our knowledge and understanding whilst uncovering more facts as we travelled on the rail-car through time!

We also had an amazing workshop with a Viking Shield-Maiden, who taught us more about the world of a Viking warrior! Some children were lucky enough to hold a range of Viking weapons and armour.

Year 5 Science Investigations

In year 5 we have been investigating properties of materials and what makes a good conductor or insulator.

Year 5 Ukulele lessons

In Year 5 the children get to experience playing the ukuleles as part of our Badsley Offer. We are able to show all of our Badsley Values during these lessons.

Joy of Movement

IN Year 5, we have started our Joy of Movement sessions with staff from Rotherham United. We are learning how to keep our both our bodies and minds healthy and active. Our first session looked at what is defined as 'physical activity' and looked at how children are active both in and out of school. Fabulous work Y5!

Tech She Can Session Two

Year 5 had their second 'Tech She Can' session. This half term, we have focused on careers and jobs related to 'connectivity'. To help us understand more about careers and jobs in this area of industry, we used iPads to trial augmented reality. It was a fabulous session and we learned a lot about different careers linked to the internet. We can't wait to learn about even more careers!

Writing

In Year 5 this week, we have been planning a diary entry using comic strips to really focus on our chronology and main events. We were so impressed with the High Five presentation that we saw. Well done!

Year 5 School Councillors

Year 5 have voted and we now have three fantastic representatives on our school council. Miss Benton, who leads our school council, is very much looking forward to working with these excellent role models in Year 5.

Year 5 library visits

At Badsley, we love to read!! We have a fantastic library where we visit each week to enjoy and share stories together. Here are some photos of some of our lovely Y5s enjoying their time to read for pleasure.

5B Music

5B have started their music lessons! In Year 5, we learn to play the ukeleles as part of our Personal Development and music offer. The children are loving their opportunity to learn an instrument this year.

5M School Councillors

5M have chosen their school councillor! Mr Morton was so impressed with every candidate who applied and interviewed. In their speeches, each child really thought about the characteristics they could bring to the class leader but also thought how they could empowers others. After a class ballot, Fathima and Hurairah were elected as 5M lead and vice. Well done to everyone who applied!
